Welcome!

The Dampier Seafarers Centre is a not for profit welfare charity serving merchant crews in the Port of Dampier, Western Australia. Our mission work seeks to care for seafarers in every way, including spiritual, physical and emotional support. But at the heart of the care offered is the gospel, the saving good news of Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,

that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

We seek to support the welfare and treatment of all seafarers calling to Dampier and Walcott ports through a range of services. These are;

Chaplaincy services

Our Chaplain (Revd. Steve) is able to visit and board vessels when they arrive in Dampier (and at times Port Walcott), and offer friendly pastoral conversation with any crew members who would like to talk. It doesn’t have to be a religious chat or service, although this is welcomed. He could talk about anything such as life at sea, stress, family, or work.

The Chaplain has free Bibles (in various languages) to pass on to crew if desired.

Please contact Steve (chaplain@dampierseafarers.org) for further enquiry.

Transport and Shore Leave

Shore leave is permitted in Australia and seafarers are entitled to access Seafarers Centres. Companies are responsible for crew health, safety, and wellbeing. Shore leave and access to shore-based welfare facilities is key to seafarer physical and mental health recovery and reduces risks of fatigue. We can to assist crew in taking shore leave and bring them to our Centre to provide a place where seafarers can find rest and recreation in a supportive and relaxed environment.

Other payable transport services available upon request (hospital, hotel, airport).

Shore Leave information is found >HERE< or contact us: transit@dampierseafarers.org

SIMS + Recharges

This service is for vessels calling to our Dampier and Walcott ports. Masters of ships can order SIM Cards &/or Recharges on crew's behalf and we will deliver them to the vessel when berthed.

Our primary SIM card provider is OPTUS using “FLEX PLUS” prepaid plans
Recharge plans available to order alongside a pre-activated Flex Plus SIM Card are;

 1) $12, 7 day expiry, 5GB.  2) $35, 28 day expiry, 40GB.

Completed SIM orders (form is found >HERE<) can be returned to orders@dampierseafarers.org ideally one week before your arrival in port.

Fishing Licence Application

In Western Australia, you need a recreational fishing licence to fish from a powered boat/vessel. It is an offence to fish at anchorage without a licence.
(No fishing is allowed whilst alongside at any of the port berths either, this applies to everyone including holders of WA Fishing Licence.  Due to a recent increase in fishing at Port Walcott, we are sending this out to share awareness of the requirements when at port).

We can assist vessels and crew in applying for this licence. Our price is $40.00USD per licence application.

Completed Fishing Licence applications (form found >HERE<) can be returned to the Centre orders@dampierseafarers.org for processing.
